They leave in an old broken down car followed by an old broken down truck driven by their ex con roadies on a rehab scheme. What the fuck were their parents thinking?
Inspired by the incredible landscape and the enigmatic father figure, ring leader and Shaman that is FIN WEAVER, the band become a phenomenon. The shows are crazy and out of control. The people that they meet are outliers, eccentrics and deadbeats. AIDEN and the kids are out of their minds with energy, idiocy and punk rock spirit. Their bond becomes tighter and they start to find the freedom that Fin teaches them to seek…
But then tragedy strikes. Fin dies side of stage during one of the bands shows. Do they call their parents and head home?
NO!! FIN would never fTorgive them. After a roadside funeral pyre the band vow to complete the tour and deliver the ashes of their hero to a sacred waterfall that FIN claimed to know.
For the young kids the ridiculous highs of being free are accompanied by the fears and anxieties that this same freedom affords.
On the run from their parents expectations, a vicious killer called STARMAN and the ghosts and spirits that roam the highways, the kids are forced to navigate own way to the magical waterfall, make-believe or not.
HUDSON BAY WA, fall of 1991. No poetic Mountain scenery, just the shitty working class docks and shipyards of Vancouver where normal and bored people live their normal and boring lives.
Amongst the bored is AIDEN, a 14 year old musical prodigy, chameleon and oddball that is so riddled with nerves he has to hide in a cupboard when he performs. Unable to process the world in a “normal” way, his visions and hallucinations and the constant soundtrack inside his head offer some respite from the noise outside of it.
AIDEN and his two misfit friends CLEMENTINE and LENNY complete the tragically yet magically shitty band, BIT IN THE FACE. A band no-one seems to like …
After answering an advert in the newspaper the band meet a Wonka-esque concert promoter, FIN WEAVER who sees their potential and promises them their golden ticket. He will take the three knuckleheads on a national tour, albeit an unusual one. They will barely see a traffic light for the next few months. They will seek the places that no-one usually goes and the music starved. For tis they, according to FIN, that shall inherit the earth.
After convincing their otherwise occupied parents that it would be okay to quit school and leave suburbia they head out into the wild with this strange old man.
